Desexing is a very common practice amongst todays pets. Most veterinarians, including us at The Vet Centre, recommend that all pets be desexed. Pets can be desexed at any age but it is recommended that a pet be desexed between 4-6 months of age.

Benefits of desexing

There are many benefits of desexing an animals, some not so obvious, such as:

  • Unwanted litters
  • Reduces animals that can either become stray or destroyed at shelters
  • Reduces the risk of many health issues ( Infection, tumours etc)
  • Cheaper council rates
  • Can reduce or eliminate unwanted behaviours
